I've come in search of support, and I'm not sure I can find it. I've been reading around the blogs. Anyone out there today? Thank you Deb, by the way. Here's my situation...
(Warning: There may be food word porn below. I warned you.)
The game tonight starts at 8 pm EST.
I'm nervous. When I'm nervous, I eat. Comfort food anyone?
And before you tell me to exercise, I did. And I want the food more now. Ugh.
Here's what I want:
popcorn
french fries
hamburgers
pasta
tequila
ice cream
chocolate
Here's what I know from the last year that works to curb carb cravings:
protein
Here's what Kimkins and South Beach propose for substituting carbs:
squash (shredded, looks like pasta, tastes like shit?)
zero calorie miracle noodles
almonds
low-carb protein shakes
low-carb yogurt
Compared to what I want, I guess this just doesn't cut the palate. So again, it must come back down to changing what I want.
I must want to lose weight more than I want to comfort my nerves. I'm not sure I can win that battle tonight. What will I do if they make it to the World Series? Is it too late to get my jaw wired shut? Then I wouldn't be able to scream at the lousy tv announcers who are rooting for the other team! Last year was easier because it seemed so obvious we would win. I don't even have a single blog about it, as if it went into a vortex of neverhappenedland.

What the hell is wrong with you??!! Now I want:
tequila
french fries
hamburgers
pasta
popcorn
ice cream
chocolate
tequila
Notice the tequila has been moved to the top and added to the bottom. Mostly cause it's the only thing on that list I ACTUALLY HAVE IN THE HOUSE (lol).
I wish I could help you with this particular issue, but I am struggling jsut as hard as you are. I have finally called my doc though. The bigger my stomach gets the more uncomfortable I become - physically and mentally. So I am trying to take action. Unfortunately I cannot get in 4 3 weeks. That's a lot of
tequila
french fries
hamburgers
pasta
popcorn
ice cream
chocolate
tequila
in the meantime...
Ahhhhh I sooo understand!!!
Cravings are really hard to come by. My best suggestion, to be honest, is give in to one or two but make it friendly. You want popcorn, have it! Pop a bag of the 95% fat free popcorn & sprinkle some spice on it. You want a burger? It doesn't have to be McDonalds! Ice cream? How about Frozen yogurt? Chocolate? No problem. Get a lil' box of those individual 100 calorie sticks. It'll curb the chocolate desire. Can't help ya with the tequila though, girl.
There are ways to give in to your cravings, you just have to chose healthier options!
One game at a time, one craving at a time.
I always tell myself that what I put in my mouth is only delaying my final outcome.
Before indulging, ask yourself if you'll be happy just a mere hour after eating xyz. You won't!
Have a good one!
I read your post just as I was finishing off a carton (yes I said carton) of ice cream. SIGH!!!!!!!!!!
Girls we have to do something about this! Maybe we should start a contest or something. I dunno. It's getting to the point where I need intervention. Ha!!!!
Good luck with the game!
