What's Wrong with My Workout

I went back to the gym last night. After resting my knee F-O-R-E-V-E-R, I went back.

I took it slowly, started out at 2.2 mph, ended up only at 2.6 mph. Level 18, which means a range of 8% incline to 13.5% incline. Nothing too outrageous.

And at minute 31:00, the knee tweaked. And the pause button got hit. And I had to go down on my knees and make the knee pop. Then restart at minute 32:00.

And now, as I write this, it doesn't hurt, but it doesn't feel exactly right. Lovely vicious circle we have going.

Why has this amount of exercise not resulted in weight loss? Probably because it wasn't 20 workouts in a month's time. Other people are running and I am trying to simply WALK UPHILL.

I don't know what's wrong with me.

I really don't.

Not eating enough.
Not eating the right stuff.

Caring too much.
Not caring enough.

I don't know.

Very frustrated.

Enough! Is! Enough!

Have you tried swimming? just walking through water should help save your knee and give you an excellent workout.

As far as losing weight, I've never ever ever lost weight working out. Even when I was in HS doing two-a-days for volleyball working out hard for 6 hours a day. Never lost a pound. I tend to build muscle with working out, so the weight is merely just redistribution.

My only weightloss has been through severe diet change either due to not having any money (ramen, hot dogs, and lettuce in college), or lately by eliminating my food allergies - with my allergic reactions I can balloon up to 15 lbs in 3 days.. which takes a week or so to get off under the strictest diet conditions.

i agree with morena. swimming is by far my favorite sport (and the only one i am good at LOL) and swimming laps really can give you a huge workout. it is very rejuvenating but can take so much out of you at the same time. you should try it! it'll be good for your knee.

I don't think that working out will necessarily result in weight loss. I mostly work out because it sets the tone for the rest of my day...a workout helps me eat right, drink water, etc; these are the things that will result in weight loss. It does help tone up, which adds to the impression that weight has been lost.

That being said...I'm concerned about your knee...have you had it checked?

I love to swim. No access to a pool. Correction: Only access to a pool costs $900 a year. Yes, the lovely upscale YMCA. Oh and LA Fitness, but I refuse to join Globo Gym.

I totally feel your pain girl. Having struggled forEVER with my own weight, I can understand the frustration involved when you tally all the hard work and it doesn't match with the results. No matter, you are still a very sexy and beautiful woman!

you're like butter to me

Sagittarius is born to travel the world and move upwards and outwards. Naturally gregarious, they love the idea of meeting different people and understanding foreign cultures. There is also a desire to broaden the mind too, with the possibility of many Sagittarians being lifelong students. Their outlook is generally optimistic and there is a distinct lack of concern over the smaller, practical details. A great sense of humor and a lack of petty mindedness are Sagittarian qualities too. Sagittarius is open -- open-minded, open-hearted and generous, up to a point. They like to get value and will not be quite so impulsive with their cash but they do have a natural ability to get on with people from many varied walks of life. They have an innate sense of wanting to help others and give them a hand up the ladder and can be wonderful and exciting companions. Expect an honest answer when you ask a question and maybe some long philosophic discussions into the night. Jovial, optimistic, versatile, open-minded, philosophical, sincere, frank, visionary.
